Govnas back from Manchester
🍻 GOVNA’S BACK FROM MANCHESTER – ME THINKS I’LL WET MY WHISTLE
A BigSaltyDog Adventure Featuring Govna, Danny Boy and One Very Thirsty Traveller!
Govna had returned from Manchester, where he’d spent a splendid few days visiting his old mate Danny Boy. Between the football discussions, the stories about women, and the endless debate over which city had the better nightlife, the pair had hardly stopped talking.
Now, back on home territory, Govna leaned against the kitchen counter, rubbed his hands together and announced to absolutely nobody in particular:
“Right, I’ve unpacked me bag, sorted me washing, and I’ve had enough travelling for one week. Me thinks I’ll wet me whistle!”
And with that, he reached for his jacket.
There was only one destination suitable for a gentleman who had survived several days in the company of Danny Boy: the local pub.
🍺 One Pint Becomes a Discussion
Govna settled himself comfortably at the bar and ordered a pint. He took the first sip, closed his eyes, and sighed with the satisfaction of a man who had finally returned to civilisation.
“Ah, that's better. Manchester was grand, mind you, but there's nothing like getting back to your own local.”
The barman raised an eyebrow.
“Was Danny Boy keeping you busy, then?”
“Busy? BUSY? I haven't had a moment's peace! Every morning, he's talking football. Every afternoon, he's talking football. And every evening, he's telling me about some woman he reckons is going to marry him!”
The barman laughed.
“Did he find her?”
“Not unless she's hiding in the Manchester United dressing room!”
Govna nearly spilled his pint laughing at his own joke.
Naturally, the conversation soon turned to football. Within five minutes, he'd explained why his preferred team was destined for greatness, why the manager needed a tactical rethink, and why every referee in the country seemed to have a personal grudge against him.
The barman nodded politely.
He'd heard it all before.
📱 Danny Boy Makes Contact
Just as Govna was contemplating whether to order another pint, his phone buzzed.
It was Danny Boy.
DANNY BOY: “You home safely, mate?”
GOVNA: “Aye, all sorted. I'm enjoying a peaceful pint.”
DANNY BOY: “Peaceful? You were the loudest man in the pub when I saw you last night!”
GOVNA: “That's Manchester for you. Had to speak up so the locals could understand me.”
Danny Boy sent back a laughing emoji.
Then came another message.
DANNY BOY: “Remember what I told you about that woman I met?”
Govna stared at the screen.
“Oh, here we go again,” he muttered.
He typed back:
“Danny, mate, if she's still not answered your messages after three weeks, I wouldn't start booking the wedding venue just yet!”
The reply came almost immediately.
“She's probably just busy!”
Govna shook his head.
“Busy? Aye, busy avoiding you!”
He laughed so loudly that two gentlemen at the next table turned around.
🍻 A Final Word from Govna
By the time Govna finished his pint, he'd put the world to rights, solved his football team's problems, and offered Danny Boy some unsolicited romantic advice.
He stood up, straightened his jacket, and declared:
“Right, that's enough excitement for one day. I'm going home before somebody asks me to manage the football club!”
As he headed towards the door, he paused and looked back at the barman.
“Same time tomorrow?”
The barman grinned.
“Depends. Are you bringing Danny Boy?”
Govna looked horrified.
“Good God, man! I've only just recovered from the last visit!”
And off he went, chuckling to himself.
Somewhere in Manchester, Danny Boy was probably sending another message to that mysterious woman.
And somewhere in England, Govna was already planning his next visit.
Because when Govna and Danny Boy get together, there's always football to argue about, women to discuss, and a story worth telling.
And if there's a decent pint involved?
Well, as Govna himself would say:
“ME THINKS I'LL WET ME WHISTLE!”
THE END. 🍻😂
