The Misfits at Silverstone — Ferrari Fever!
The Misfits at Silverstone — Ferrari Fever! ๐️๐ฎ๐น
Ye Olde Large Lad and the Misfits had finally made it to Silverstone for the Formula 1.
It had been a long journey, but nobody was complaining. Well, almost nobody.
Large Lad had been talking about the trip for weeks.
"I tell you what," he announced as the gang walked towards the grandstands, "there's nothing like Formula 1. Speed, noise, technology and enormous amounts of overpriced food."
Sarah looked at him.
"Large Lad, you've already bought three sausage rolls."
"Exactly," he replied. "I came prepared."
Susan shook her head.
"You've been here five minutes."
"Preparation is everything."
Stg. Salty laughed as the Misfits found their seats overlooking the circuit.
The atmosphere was incredible.
Thousands of fans were packed into the grandstands, flags were flying everywhere, and the sound of the Formula 1 cars could already be heard in the distance.
Then suddenly...
VRRRRRAAAAAAAAM!
The first cars blasted past.
Everyone jumped.
Even Large Lad.
"I wasn't frightened," he quickly announced.
Sarah looked at him.
"You nearly dropped your sausage roll."
"That wasn't fear. That was aerodynamic movement."
Susan burst out laughing.
The Misfits settled down as the race got underway.
The cars were flying around Silverstone at ridiculous speeds. Every corner brought another roar from the crowd.
Salty was completely caught up in the excitement.
"Lads, I have a feeling we're going to see something special today."
Large Lad nodded seriously.
"I can feel it in my sausage roll."
Nobody knew what that meant.
But nobody had time to ask.
The Ferraris were flying.
The two red cars were battling at the front, and every time they came past the grandstands the crowd erupted.
"COME ON, FERRARI!" shouted Salty.
Sarah and Susan joined in.
Even Large Lad was now waving his arms.
"COME ON, YOU RED BEAUTIES!"
The Misfits were on their feet.
Lap after lap, the tension increased.
The Ferrari cars remained right at the sharp end of the race.
Salty could hardly sit down.
Large Lad had completely forgotten about his food.
That was how serious things had become.
"Look at them!" shouted Susan.
"They're flying!" said Sarah.
Then came the final laps.
The whole grandstand was standing.
The Misfits were shouting.
The Ferrari fans were going absolutely mad.
And then...
The chequered flag appeared.
FERRARI HAD DONE IT.
A FERRARI ONE-TWO!
The grandstands exploded.
"YES!" screamed Salty.
The Misfits jumped up and down.
Large Lad nearly launched his sausage roll into the air.
"We've only gone and witnessed a Ferrari one-two!"
Salty grabbed Large Lad and gave him a massive hug.
Large Lad hugged Susan.
Susan hugged Sarah.
Sarah was laughing so much that she couldn't work out who she was hugging anymore.
"What a race!" shouted Salty.
"What a result!" shouted Susan.
"WHAT A SAUSAGE ROLL!" shouted Large Lad.
Everyone stopped.
Sarah stared at him.
"What has the sausage roll got to do with Ferrari?"
Large Lad looked completely serious.
"Everything."
The Misfits burst out laughing.
The Ferrari drivers headed to the podium as the crowd continued celebrating.
The Italian flags were waving everywhere.
Salty stood proudly with the Misfits.
"Now THAT," he said, "is how you spend a day at Silverstone."
Large Lad nodded.
"Formula 1, Ferrari, great atmosphere and enough food to feed a small army."
Sarah looked at his empty food bag.
"You've eaten everything already."
Large Lad looked shocked.
"I was emotionally hungry."
Susan laughed.
"That's not a thing."
"It is today."
The Misfits watched as the Ferrari drivers celebrated their incredible one-two finish.
For once, nobody had broken anything.
Nobody had accidentally driven a tank onto the circuit.
Nobody had ended up in the wrong country.
And Large Lad hadn't even been thrown out for trying to sneak into the paddock.
It had been a perfect day.
Silverstone had delivered.
Ferrari had delivered.
And the Misfits had witnessed it all from the grandstands.
As they finally headed home, Salty looked at the gang.
"Same time next year?"
Large Lad immediately raised his hand.
"Only if there's another sausage roll."
Sarah shook her head.
"You're impossible."
Large Lad grinned.
"That's why you love me."
And with that, the Misfits disappeared into the Silverstone crowd, still celebrating one of the greatest days of their Formula 1 adventure.
Ferrari one-two.
Silverstone roaring.
The Misfits together.
What could possibly go wrong next?
