Final Chapter — The S Team Is Ready!

Final Chapter — The S Team Is Ready!

The sun was beginning to disappear behind the hills.

The training ground was quiet.

For once.

No explosions.

No shouting.

No drones crashing into trees.

No one asking where the sandwiches were.

It was almost peaceful.

Almost.

Stg. Salty stood beside the Leopard 2 and looked across his Misfits.

He had seen enough.

They had trained together.

They had argued together.

They had broken things together.

They had fixed things together.

And, most importantly, they had laughed together.

Now it was time to find out whether all that chaos had actually created something useful.

A team.

---

WhizzAir launched the DJI drone one final time.

It rose into the evening sky.

Everyone looked upwards.

The drone flew straight.

No trees.

No bushes.

No buildings.

No disasters.

WhizzAir smiled.

“Beautiful.”

McFinleyyy looked impressed.

“You finally learned how to fly it.”

WhizzAir nodded proudly.

Then the drone immediately started drifting sideways.

WhizzAir grabbed the controller.

“Wind!”

Sarah laughed.

“Of course it is.”

---

Sarah and Susan stepped forward.

Their training gear was covered in dust.

The war paint was still on their faces.

They looked at each other.

They had been the organisers.

The planners.

The ones who kept everybody moving in the same direction.

Sarah looked at the Misfits.

“Everyone accounted for?”

Susan checked her list.

“Everyone.”

Sarah nodded.

“Equipment?”

Susan checked again.

“Ready.”

Sarah looked towards Salty.

“Team?”

Susan smiled.

“Ready.”

They raised their fists.

And together:

“CHA CHING!”

The Misfits erupted in laughter.

---

Ye Olde Large Lad stepped forward.

He had spent most of the week pumping iron.

Nobody knew why.

Nobody dared ask.

He lifted his enormous dumbbells one final time.

CLANG!

McFinleyyy looked at him.

“Are you finished?”

Ye Olde Large Lad nodded.

“Yes.”

He put the weights down.

Then he gave his best action-hero stare towards the horizon.

“I'm ready.”

Finholio applauded.

“Brilliant.”

Salty smiled.

“That's enough Arnie for one day.”

Ye Olde Large Lad nodded.

“Understood.”

Then he quietly picked up another dumbbell.

Salty stared at him.

“Put it down.”

He put it down.

---

McFinleyyy checked the Leopard 2.

Everything was in order.

Govna had somehow managed to organise food and refreshments.

Quags had the heavy equipment sorted.

Quagmire had secured the emergency sandwiches.

Senior Miguel stood quietly beside the tank.

Salty looked at him.

“Everything alright?”

Miguel nodded.

“Feels right.”

Salty smiled.

“Good.”

Finholio stepped forward.

“Boss?”

Salty looked at him.

“What?”

Finholio straightened his jacket.

“I've polished the tank.”

Salty looked at the Leopard 2.

It was gleaming.

“You did a good job.”

Finholio smiled.

“Thank you.”

There was a pause.

“Can I drive it now?”

“No.”

“Fair enough.”

---

Salty climbed onto the Leopard 2.

He looked down at his team.

McFinleyyy.

Govna.

Senior Miguel.

WhizzAir.

Quags.

Quagmire.

Sarah.

Susan.

Finholio.

Ye Olde Large Lad.

Every one of them completely different.

Every one of them slightly mad.

But somehow...

They worked.

Salty climbed into the commander's position.

The Leopard's engine fired.

BRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOM!

The sound echoed across the training ground.

Everyone stood to attention.

Salty looked towards the horizon.

Then he spoke.

“We started this because we wanted to be prepared.”

He paused.

“But being prepared isn't about pretending you're invincible.”

The Misfits listened.

“It's about looking after your mates. Keeping your head when things go wrong. Knowing when to laugh. Knowing when to listen.”

He looked around.

“And knowing that sometimes the bloke beside you is going to crash a drone into a tree.”

Everyone looked at WhizzAir.

WhizzAir shrugged.

“Could happen.”

The Misfits laughed.

Salty smiled.

“That is what makes us a team.”

---

Sarah stepped forward.

Susan beside her.

Ye Olde Large Lad stood behind them.

Finholio raised his fist.

WhizzAir brought the drone down.

McFinleyyy gave the Leopard one final check.

Govna produced the sandwiches.

Quags nodded.

Quagmire took two.

Senior Miguel smiled.

Salty looked at them all.

Then he shouted:

“MISFITS!”

Everyone answered:

“READY!”

Salty shouted again:

“S TEAM!”

The response came back louder.

“READY!!!!”

Sarah and Susan raised their fists.

“CHA CHING!”

Ye Olde Large Lad flexed.

Finholio shouted:

“LET'S GO!”

WhizzAir's drone rose into the sky.

The Leopard 2 began rolling forward.

The Misfits climbed aboard.

The sun disappeared completely.

The tank moved into the darkness.

Salty looked ahead.

He smiled.

Whatever tomorrow brought...

The Misfits would face it together.

Not because they were superheroes.

Not because they thought they were invincible.

But because they had each other's backs.

And, apparently, a rather large tank.

Behind them came Finholio's voice:

“WHO BROUGHT THE BISCUITS?”

Govna shouted back:

“ME!”

Quagmire yelled:

“AND I'VE GOT THE SANDWICHES!”

Sarah shouted:

“NO EATING IN THE TANK!”

Silence.

Then Quags whispered:

“Too late.”

Salty shook his head.

The Leopard disappeared over the hill.

And one final voice echoed into the night:

“THE S TEAM IS READY!!!!”

THE END.
