Confession of a Sales Team Manager
I’ll admit it. Some days, I wake up and think, “I can’t do this today.” The targets are relentless. The team’s energy dips and rises like a yo-yo. One minute I’m celebrating a closed deal with them, and the next, I’m listening to a tearful call about a lost client.
I confess, I don’t have all the answers. I worry about their mental health. I worry about mine. I worry about whether pushing them harder will break them – or make them stronger. The truth is, behind every motivational speech I give, I’m fighting my own doubts.
But every time I see a junior team member stand up confidently to present, or I see a rep hit a target they thought was impossible, I remember why I love this. Leading sales isn’t about pushing products. It’s about building people. And while the stress never leaves, neither does the pride.
That’s my confession.
